Specialist interest: Raising public awareness of Young Onset Parkinson’s

“Even with Parkinson’s, I try to stay positive about life. Some things may be more challenging to do but it doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy them. There is always so much to do and keeping a glass half full approach does wonders in helping to achieve those goals.”

My journey down the positive side really began when I was encouraged by Tom Isaacs to attend the World Parkinson Congress in Glasgow in 2010. It was a huge turning point in my life and have since then attended the WPC in 2013 and 2016 in a more involved role with The Cure Parkinson’s Trust and Parkinson’s Movement.

Through Parkinson’s I have met some extraordinary people from all over the world and all with their own story, their own individual journey.

“They have all inspired me in some way. I consider myself lucky to have met them and to call them my friends.”
